Pause Effect

This past winter I felt the need to take a break from the blog and re-change my internal and creative batteries. The extra time I spent with with my boys and friends proved to be very optimal.

But creativity never stops and I have been working and improving some spaces around our home.

If you follow me via Instagram @livingfourseasons, you have already seen some of those changes.

Between Heaven and Earth...

...there is a beautiful place call Norway.

We took this beautiful summer pictures during a trip last weekend to Ustaoset and Geilo.

We were invited to a cozy hut by our good friends Dulce and Nicolas. We had a wonderful family weekend. Saturday evening my hubby delighted us with a fantastic dinner.

Although we are in summer time, there are still some stunning ice layers in the mountains.

On our way back home we made one stop to take pictures.

The Norwegian landscape is every photographer dream.

Long Distance

My family in Colombia recently celebrated the 98 birthday of my maternal grandmother. I also celebrated it here in Norway with my boys and good friends.

For this special occasion I decorated with pompons and made 49 cupcakes! We sang happy birthday to her via Skype and blow the candles in her honor and we wished that we can celebrate her another birthday next to her in my beautiful Colombia.

We tasted Hot Chocolate on a stick from Nille. A new favorite :) Delicious!

With this picture of my 98 years old beautiful, fabulous, creative, loving, awesome, and strong maternal grandmother I want to celebrate the Women's Day.

It is a honor to have an amazing role model in my own family and that she is still with us is priceless.

Heartbroken

It it’s a beautiful and sunny day in the land of the fjords.

You are healthy, you are happy, you have a job, a house, you are honest and pay your bills. What else would a person wish for? In my case, I wish I could share a day like this with my family.

My family means everything to me, not only my close family as my parents and my brother - but also my aunts and cousins. As a request from many other countries, they need a visa to come to visit me in Norway. I understand the government that approves this visas has to make crucial decisions to protect the country, but sometimes the government is blinded and these decisions are completely wrong. Unfortunately, we have been affected by one of these “wrong decisions”. Last year my aunt was denied a visa to come and visit us. This weekend, one year and two months after we appealed, we got the “why” my aunt and her grandson are not welcome to Norway. It states that Colombia is a pour country and the risk that they will like to stay in Norway for good is too big. Thank goodness, my family´s hard work is the reason they have a good life in Colombia - so ok that they can afford to take the time off work and pay for an intercontinental plane ticket... They just want to come to visit us for four weeks.

Yes, it it’s a beautiful and sunny day in the land of the fjords, and still, it breaks my heart the realization that my kids may never have the opportunity to share their life in Norway with their Colombian cousins while they are still children, that they may never come to see my house and the country that I love and respect.

Countdown

I had a wonderful time with my hubby in beautiful Copenhagen.

 All the tips from Fjellby came really handy since it was my first time there, and I did learn a lot about Copenhagen and the city design history. One of my favorite stores was Hay House.

Now I am doing the final countdown of comments for my 6 give-ways!

Living In Athens

What I love most about the blog world is the incredible positive and helpful feedback that you can share with others. I was lucky to come across Maratonjenta post about this stylishly apartments to rent in Athens. We where going to spent two days in Athens and the hotel prices where to high for us, (4 adults and two kids). The perfect and comfortable solution was to rent two apartments!

The two apartments are relatively small but can accommodate 4 persons and they have large balconies with a priceless view of the Acropolis.

 The details and creativity of the the decoration, practical furniture and well thought out use of the space makes you want to stay longer.

The kitchen is well equipped and the apartments have both wireless Internet and air-conditioning.

What a place! Walking distance from the Acropolis and metro, nice shops and cosy restaurants on the neighborhood.

Summer Memories

From Syros-Greece.
We had two amazing weeks in this paradise, four hours by ferry from Athens.

We had time to enjoy family life but also to do some searching of my big interest: interior and decoration. I found local shops with maritime and colourful details, original ideas and some trends.

The dining experience was extraordinary, not only for the food, but all the details of the restaurants. You never forget that you are in Greece!

Flowers everywhere. Beautiful colors and forms.

And at the end of the day amazing sunsets at the beach.

It has been a long break for Living Four Seasons, but slowly we are going to get back in business.

Bubble Boy

I love my bubble boy. He is going to turn six year old in a couple of weeks.

I started 2012 learning how to take interior pictures seating on chair indoors since I couldn't move because of my feet operation, but I am much happier now that I can walk and take pictures outside! Specially now that is summer time.

I am also learning how to use Photoshop Elements 8.0.

Picasa and PicMonkey are easy and fun to use.

My goal is to put a smile on every person face that sees my pictures.

Se Habla Español

Living Four Seasons is a blog that I created for expressing myself: a Latin American girl living all the way up north where the year has four seasons and every season change us, not just the way we dress up or the activities we do, also the way we live inside our homes.

Living Four Seasons es un blog que he creado para expresarme: una chica latina que viven bien arriba, en el norte, donde el año tiene cuatro estaciones y cada temporada nosotros cambiamos no sólo la forma en que nos vestimos o las actividades que hacemos, tambien la forma en vivimos dentro de nuestros hogares.

During the winter we decorate for Christmas and the house is warm thanks to the fireplace.

Durante el invierno decoramos para la Navidad y la casa es cálida gracias a la chimenea.

During spring we buy flowers and decorate with them outside and the house is fill with bright colors.

Durante la primavera que compramos flores y decoramos con ellas afuera de la casa y dentro se destacan colores brillantes.

During the Summer we have long sun light days and some of us have to paint our houses so they are prepare for another long winter.

Durante el verano tenemos días largos con luz del sol y algunos de nosotros tenemos que pintar nuestras casa para que estén listas para otro largo invierno.

And finally Fall, when the cold returns and we enjoy  indoors activities next to candlelight's.

Y, por último otoño, cuando regresa el frio y disfrutamos de actividades dentro de casa y la luz de las velas.

And in between seasons we also celebrate life; birthdays, anniversaries, Norwegian and Colombian traditions that are part of who we are and what we are teaching our children to understand and love.

Y entre las estaciones también celebramos la vida; cumpleaños, aniversarios, tradiciones noruegas y colombianas que forman parte de lo que somos y lo que estamos enseñando a nuestros niños a valorar y amar.
