Minions Birthday Party Inspiration

I had so much fun last year preparing my sons 8 years birthday party. Two basic colors: yellow and blue and the funniest cartoons characters The Minions!

I found via Pinterest a lot of DIY ideas for decorations and activities. Printables are my favorites and I always have self-adhesive paper, that makes it easy to print and stick to any surface. In this case I printed on self-adhesive paper Minions eyes to decorate the drinking cups and cardboard paper for the Minions goggles.

For entertainment we had games like running with a spoon, target shooting and Minions bowling. I made the pines from plastic bottles that I painted blue and yellow and self-adhesive Minions faces.

My boys are not into conventional birthday cakes. So we put together a candy table with snacks, norwegian buns, Minions cupcakes and cotton candy.

Our cotton candy machine is from Clas Ohlson. Very fun to make and to eat.

Red Carpet Theme Party For a 10 Year Old del 2.

More Red Carpet party inspiration! This time from my boy's party with his classmates.

All the kids got the opportunity to start the party rocking the red carpet as we took their pictures like 
real paparazzi.

 This ticket invitations from Ticket templates are absolute favorites. I only designed the glamourised picture perfect for the party´s theme, print and cut.

The table decorations were simple but very colorful and the large gold-letter balloons in honor of the birthday boy really pop-up under the party tent.

Popcorn cupcakes were a success, decorative and very easy to make. 

You only need mini marshmallows and regular cupcakes. I made chocolate and vanilla. Use clean scissors to cut an X shape on one side of the marshmallow. Put icing on the top of the cupcakes and press the mini marshmallows so the cupcake looks like a popcorn bag. Try blowtorching the marshmallows for natural popcorn look.

I used templates from Firsgradeteacherlady for fun party activities like giving student awards and personalize VIP back stage passes.

This was a really fun and memorable party! They kids enjoyed the food, the sweets and danced until their parents came to pick them up.

Red Carpet Theme Party For a 10 Year Old.

It was a very special occasion so I had to roll the red carpet for my son's 10 years birthday party.
I decorated with some simple details to make it fancy fun.

For the family reunion I decorated with gold balloons and stars hanging from the roof. 

The red table runner is actually gift wrapping paper that I pimped with gold stars.

I made a pennant with pictures of the birthday boy to hang on the window. I also put some pictures over the table, it was nice to look at them and comment some of our boy special moments while we were eating cake.

I personalized chips containers to make it more easy and fun to pick up snacks. Everybody put what they wanted on them.

Ninja Turtles Birthday Party & Free Printable

I had a "blast from the past" preparing my son Oskar's birthday.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was one of my brother's favorite cartoon back in the late 80's and my son was surprised about how familiar I was with the Ninja Turtles story line.

Every birthday party starts with the invitations. The website "Print with my Pic" has original templates you can personalize and print. In this case, my favorites are the ones that look like tickets. You just have to follow some simple instructions and get your printer ready. For my son´s party invitations I found a Ninja Turtles picture via Google Images; I changed the text on paint and added it to the invitation.

To keep with the Ninja Turtles theme we decided to serve pizzas and that's where I came with the idea to make an Oskar's Pizza logo! I used the logo to make a welcome and an establishment sign, to decorate the drinking cups - and added some stickers on the kids goodie bags. I always use Avery's sticker project paper for this projects.

The activity "coloring your own mask" is always a success. You can print Ninja Turtle mask from the Carnival coloring pages.

Batman Birthday Party

When boys are 9 years old they know what they want to do and play during their birthday parties. This year my son Daniel wanted to be and play like his favorite super hero: Batman.

The hero-adventure started with me going out to two different parts of the city searching for Batman party supplies. But I found NADA! So I had to put my favorite costume on: DIY Mom!

The only things I finally bought were plain cups and plates, the balloons where a gift from my local toy store! and with the help of Pinterest I got a lot of practical ideas.

To decorate the cups I printed the Batman logo that I found on the blog The Mathews Family Happenings on Avery's sticker project paper, pasted on the cups and with a white marker I wrote the name of each guest. For the Batman masks I used {this} template and I put crayons on the table so the boys could decorate them as well as Batman coloring pages.

My biggest project for this party was the Gothic City background witch I made inspired by the blogger Mom and the Blonds. I made my using cardboard boxes that I collected at work. I painted some in blue for the sky and the rest in black after I cut out the building shapes. For the yellow windows I printed out yellow squares in the Avery sticker project paper and pasted them on the black painted cardboard. We used the Gothic background for a fun photo-shoot.

The Super hero food for this party was hamburgers and my son´s favorite birthday cake: Skillingsboller Kake; {here} you can read more about this special cake.

I also made Super hero Popcorn holders using a very funny comic page that I found in Papergreat. I printed the page in black and white, rolled it and secured it with tape. The boys loved this idea and I am sure I am going to used it again. Funny enough, after eating all the popcorn they all tried to read the content of the page.

Wow! It was a really fun party and there is only one week for the next one!

Party invitations

My last birthday party tips for this year is this website Print With My Pic, where you can edit party invitations, thank you cards, birthday cards, calendars, announcements cards...etc..  with your own picture. Just edit online and print them.

 

I wanted my son's birthday party invitations to look like a movie ticket, and I found this web site while I was searching for inspiration. They came out really cool!

I used the Ticket Invitation 6, that has a classic look.
